Local Rules

Local Rules are printed on the scorecard.  Changes and updates to Local Rules are displayed on the Notice Boards in the men’s and ladies’ Locker Rooms.  It is the responsibility of each player to familiarise themselves with the Local Rules.

 

Conditions of Competition

The following Conditions will apply under Rule 33-1 to all GUI member competitions.

 

Rules of Golf

The Rules of Golf, adopted by The Royal & Ancient Golf Club apply to all GUI member competitions.

 

Eligibility

Players must meet the eligibility criteria set down in the Club Bye Laws for each competition.

 

Pace of Play

Players are required to adhere to the Pace of Play Policy approved by GUI Committee.

 

Starting Time & Fellow Competitors

Players should report to the Official Starter at least ten minutes before their allocated starting time.
An allocated starting time is the time at which the player entered their name on the BRS Timesheet or any other such time advised to the player by the Competition Committee or the Official Starter.
No player has the authority to alter their official starting time or the starting time of any other player once the competition has closed for automated entries at 10:00 p.m. on the day preceding the competition.
The Official Starter may allocate a revised official starting time, including a change of fellow competitors, to ensure the smooth running of the competition.
Players are obliged to comply with the directions given by the Official Starter.
All matters relating to the timesheet and official starting times are under the control of the Official Starter from 10:00 p.m. on the evening preceding the competition.
A player who wishes to enter the competition after 10:00 p.m. on the evening preceding the competition should contact the Official Starter to request a starting time.
Following closure of the automated timesheet the substitution of Player B for Player A is only permitted with the approval of the Official Starter.

 

The Official Starter is the person nominated by the Competition Committee to manage the running of the competition.  The Club Professional normally acts as the Official Starter.  From time to time the Club Professional or Captain may nominate a substitute to act as Official Starter.

 

The Competition Committee comprises the Captain, Vice-Captain, GUI Competition Secretary and the GUI Committee Secretary together with the members on the “card checking rota” for the relevant competition.
