This year almost 500 golfers representing nearly 100 different golf clubs participated in the Qualifying Rounds of this prestigious tournament. This event is renowned for its friendly atmosphere and this was evident from the qualifying rounds and right through all the matchplay stages.
Paul Carroll of CPL said that he and his company were delighted to be part of this great tournament that builds and nourishes future talent, relationships and values which is are also core to the business of CPL resources.
On the first qualifying weekend, the Butlers of Dunmurry Springs/Naas led the qualifiers with a net score of 68. Simon and Peter Murray were the leading Castle pair on 71. The leading gross score of the qualifiers was 74 by the O’Connor’s of Foxrock.

Peter & Graham O’Connor of Foxrock had the best gross score in the qualifiers and their fine golf continued all the way through the matchplay stages to the final. Saturday 9th July
Two fantastic semi finals were played here today in great spirit.
The sun shone brightly but the wind made conditions very difficult. Nevertheless a large crowd witnessed great golf played by all Fathers and Sons.
The first Semi Final saw the Floods from Castle go all the way to the 19th before they succumbed to a wonderful birdie from the O'Connors of Foxrock. The Castle pair of Garry and Paul showed great resiliance to come back from 4 down after 12 holes to bring this match to extra time.
In the second Semi Final the McCarthys of Elm Park played some great golf but were narrowly beaten by another birdie this time on 17 from the Fanagans of Milltown. We look forward to seeing the McCarthys compete in this great event again in future years.
Now on to tomorrows final which starts at 1pm and promises to be another titanic affair with the O'Connors giving 1 shot to the Fanagans. All support is welcome.

Thursday 7th July 2016
A cracking day's weather at Castle to go with stunning golf played by all.
It was a day when not only did the Sun shine but so too did Youth.
A fantastic display of golf from Harry Fanagan (16 years), Aengus McCarthy (12 Years), and Paul Flood (14 years) saw them play high quality golf and guide their respective fathers through to another day's golf.
Similar golfing talent was displayed by Jake Turley (14 years), Dylan Smyth (12 Years), Jamie Butler (14 years) and Simon Philips (15 years) who all sadly will have to wait another year before teeing it up again with their Dads and hopefully taking the journey a little further.
The Quarter Finals have produced some mouth watering clashes, worthy of any golfing enthusiast taking time out to support their favoured pairings at Castle.
First Tee Tomorrow Friday at 17.00 pm
