Interclub & Handicaps

Inter-club Competition.

The Club enters teams in two inter-club competitions each year.

  • The Ted Fearon Trophy:- This is a triangular match between Castle GC, Grange GC and Milltown GC.Each team consists of 7 "Class A" players (Handicap 10 and better) and 7 "Class B" players (Handicap 15 +).
The teams (seven pairs) play each other home and away to set up the final in early March.
Each club is therefore guaranteed four matches. The rules of the competition allow a player to play only once in each competition - so we need at least 56 players and another 14 if we reach the final - 70 in all!!
  • The Paddy O'Brien Memorial Trophy-
This competition is a pairs competition for the better players in clubs in the greater Dublin area and is run by Elm Park GC.

Handicaps are applied to reflect ability - the highest handicap at present is 35 (called 7-spot - a "spot" being 5 points). Our best player is minus 40!

If you have not got a handicap contact the Chairman or a member of the Committee and a handicap can be easily arranged.
