2016 Snooker Results & Updates

Last night eight times champion Fergal Behan succumbed to the powerhouse of Eric Goodwin 2-1 in the quarter final of the senior championship

Eric continues his fantastic run of reaching just about every semi-final in the last twenty five years

Unfortunately as discussed last year Eric has had to endure second spot on five occasions, each time to Fergal so is this his year?

The whispers in the snooker camp had started over the last few weeks that Fergal might not be able to add to his major haul of eight championships, so much so that his nickname was changed to “Tiger”

Very harsh…..

The previous night had seen another power struggle with yours truly up against Garry Lyons

Walking into the room I could see Garry had a swagger about him, he was potting well and looked confident

Nothing like a 93 break in practice over the weekend to put Garry in good spirts,  I was more hopeful of getting a 39 break, I knew I was up against it

Garry started well winning the first frame and I knew I was in trouble. I was missing everything.

Fortunately I brought him down to my level, we were lucky to get a break in the teens, but like the tide on a summers evening in Dublin Bay, the tide started to turn

And so it happened frames two and three went my way.

Unfortunately that’s where my luck ended that night, got a puncture on the way home in the rain, put the spare on and that was as flat as a pancake

Still went to bed with a smile on my face though!!!!!!

All the competitions are reaching semi-final stages now

Ken McCoy had a good win to reach the semis in the intermediate and Andrew Baird and Declan McNiff play in one of the Martin Connor semi-finals

Just a reminder that we will be taking the competition monies from your golf club purse over the next week so please ensure you have ample funds in the account

Some of ye have already paid so that will be taken into account.
